Testimonials

"Amy is a highly experienced and knowledgeable professional who knows how the education system works. This was really important for us to support implementing a whole school approach to mental health." - SENDCo

"I found that Amy was very approachable. I was able to speak to her after sessions for practical advice on how to support my pupil who was struggling because of their Special Educational Needs. She gave me tips I could quickly implement that made a big difference." - Class teacher

"I really enjoyed my time with [Amy]. She has helped me. I feel better about coming to school now." - Year 4 pupil

"Before the sessions with [Amy], the child couldn't speak to me and was obviously very uncomfortable during my assessments. By the time I came back for review, he said to me, "Are you like my Play Therapist, Amy? I like her." and he communicated with me more easily. I believe that the sessions have allowed him to do this." - Educational Psychologist

Therapist

Amy Foster

Amy Foster is a qualified Therapeutic Play Practitioner who is passionate about helping children and their families and supporting schools in achieving improved mental health for all pupils.

Although originally from a legal background, Amy's passions led her to a career in education and then to gaining her qualification as a SENDCo with distinction. She has frequently sat on EHCP assessment panels to support the LA as well as leading a cluster of SENDCos in best practice.

Amy has also undertaken roles of DSL for Mental Health and LAC and has worked with pupils in both mainstream and specialist settings. She decided to study further to become a Play Therapist having watched first hand as the need for timely and appropriate support for children and young people's mental health has increased whilst the support available sadly has not.

In the therapy setting, Amy is able to draw upon her vast experience and knowledge to provide not only therapeutic intervention but insight into SEND and can recommend further  appropriate and manageable interventions.
